Tories 'party of working people'

The Tories will become the party that represents working people rather than the rich and powerful, David Cameron has said in his New Year message.

The Tory leader also promises that next year his party will set out its alternative policies in more detail.

This is obviously a challenge that needs to be taken on, though the difficulties of achieving it can't really i think be overstated. Lets focus on the BBC headline:
Tories 'party of working people'

How many people actually remember "tory" was originally a term of abuse, precisely by comparing us to that long extinct political party of the church, aristocracy and landowning classes? The link between the Conservative Party and the upper-classes is simply so ingrained that I don't think the stigma will ever be shaken off.. (certainly not by a well-to-do Eton graduate *cough*)

The best that can be done is to make the association a matter of indifference. This could concievably be achieved through a coherent direction and proper policies. Of these, Cameron is promising revelation in the near future. We eagerly await.

Happy New Year to all!

Golly gosh, one must hurry, unless i leave now i'll miss papa take part in his polo match...
