Two Resignations

The aftermath of the Welsh Assembly Elections yesterday was followed by two inevitable resignations, Tony Blair as Prime Minister ... and myself as Aberystwyth Conservative Future Chairman. However I would like to emphasise that there was a vast difference in circumstance!

Last nights leadership battle for Aber CF saw two perfectly capable and talented candidates give their best performances. Genevieve Isherwood was elected Chair of Aber CF for the 2007-2008 term. On behalf of Aber CF I would like to congratulate them both and thank them for their tremendous efforts over the past year. Last nights AGM was the most professional in my 3 years at Aber with the largest turnout so far.

I would like to wish Genevieve the best of luck and will be offering her as much support next year. This year has seen Aber CF's largest ever active membership, with some great events and a great campaigning force in the Welsh Assembly elections. Thank you very much, I hope you enjoyed yourself this year ... I know I certainly did!!

Comments:
Excellent news! Well done to Paul and his committee who have done a fantastic job this year. Also good luck to Genevieve, who I am sure is going to make a great Chair of Aber CF.

Paul - Thanks for all your support during the campaign - now you are needed to do the same here in North Wales!

How can you judge yourself to have left with a positive record?? Surely that is for others to decide???

I personally feel that your statement was a bit arrogant and big headed. Others judge whether you had a positive record or not. To judge it yourself is very arrogant. Plus comparing yourself to the Prime minister is ridiculous as your only Chairman of a student society.

Thanks Dylan for the comments .. I am now back in North Wales working on social action projects and coordinating freshers fairs.

In relation to the other comments, apologies if I have been misinterpreted, I praised both candidates and the tone was more my excitement that Genevieve can build upon previous work and achieve so much more in Mid & West Wales.

In relation to Tony Blair, who achieved so much during his term I was merely noting the occasion for the blogs purposes.
